Volunteer For Us
Our volunteers are vital in helping us run the wide range of activities and services that we provide and fundraising for renovating our halls. We value their time and commitment very much.
As a volunteer you'll be contributing to the community, meeting new people, gaining valuable work experience and adding skills to your CV.

About
Gardening
On the third Tuesday of the month we run a Volunteer Gardening Session from 11am till 12:30pm. This session is run by a brilliant gardener so you do not need to have any gardening knowledge or skills. Just an interest in being outside, meeting new people and getting your hands in the dirt.

You'll be doing things like;

-
Weeding
-
Planting
-
Sweeping
-
Pruning

When: On the third Tuesday of the month 11am - 12:30pm.

All tools are provided - just wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty and are weather appropriate. Tea and biscuits provided.

If you are interested, please turn up on the next gardening session and say hello! If you want to know more before getting started, please get in touch admin@whittingtonpca.org.uk

Events
We run sporadic events such as film nights, mini festivals, craft evenings, children's discos, games afternoons and many more. We always need people who are able to lend a pair of hands and get stuck in doing whatever is needed.
You'll be doing things like:
-
Putting up posters in the park, on lampposts etc
-
Picking up tables or equipment from other locations in the borough
-
Helping set up and pack away tables, chairs and decorations
-
Running stalls
-
Helping serve tea and washing up
-
Stewarding, being on information stalls, checking tickets
-
Taking photos
-
Being a friendly and welcoming face, helping attendees feel comfortable
-
Running workshops

When: As required.
You won’t be doing everything on that list so don’t worry if some of the activities are things you can’t or don’t want to do. Having a list of people we can call on to help with events, in whatever capacity and whenever they are free, is a huge help to us. If you are interested, please email admin@whittingtonpca.org.uk

Our largest programme is our Over 55's Social Club. We run over 20 free activities a week and serve freshly cooked hot lunches Tuesday – Thursday. Activities include things like Poetry Club, Arts and Crafts, Debate Club, Bingo and various exercise classes.

Trustee

We always need more Trustees. Trustees are the guardians of our mission and values. They help steer the strategic direction of the centre, oversee its financial health, and ensure we meet our legal and ethical responsibilities.
This is a governance role, not a day-to-day operational one, but your insights and decisions will have a lasting impact. If you are interested in this, please see our Trustees page.
Other Skills
Or maybe you have skills and experience in other areas that you'd like to contribute. Call 0207 272 1847 if you would like to find out more about volunteering for us.

Want to help us but don’t have the time?
Sharing our events and activities on local WhatsApp groups is a huge help. Nothing advertises better than word of mouth and local recommendations. See our News page for new classes and activities or check out our Instagram!
"Being made redundant hit me very hard and was a horrible experience to go through. I lost what little confidence I had and seeing how the world of work had changed over 18 years was very scary and overwhelming for me. The support that I receive from everyone at the Centre is wonderful and knowing that I am helping a centre that provides so much to the community is very rewarding."
