Moving Connections: Embodied Movement in Islington
Explore embodied movement in Islington with Moving Connections, a weekly Tuesday evening session at Whittington Park Community Centre in North London.
Inspired by freestyle movement and partner dance practices including 5Rhythms, Contact Improvisation and Ecstatic Dance. Moving Connections is an opportunity to relax into your body, be present and explore connection with yourself and others through movement.
Led by experienced dance and movement facilitator Julia, the sessions use simple guided exercises to explore different ways of connecting and moving. You might work alone, with a partner or as part of a small group, with an emphasis on choice, curiosity and connecting without words.
Each evening begins with a gentle warm-up before moving through guided exercises. This is followed by a free-flow movement space with live violin, giving you the freedom to explore movement in your own way. The evening finishes with a closing circle and time to relax and connect with others.
Julia has more than 20 years of experience teaching Brazilian Forró and has explored a wide range of movement practices, including Contact Improvisation, 5Rhythms and free-flow movement. Her approach brings together embodied movement, creativity and connection in a welcoming and supportive environment.
Everyone is welcome and no previous dance or movement experience is needed.
